Implementation team project – Jay County Hospital, transition to IU Health Jay, Portland, Indiana

Goal: Transition new clinical equipment without interrupting patient care.

Electronic inventory assessment, 1-day on-site inventory, developed new equipment
budget, obtained quotes and ordered equipment

New vital signs monitors replaced outdated equipment. Connection to the electronic medical records was planned within the next year.

New anesthesia machines with anesthetic vaporizers were installed. The existing and surplus vaporizers were returned to the consignment vendor that avoided approximately $20,000 in fees.

The delivery and installation of 25 hospital beds in a small hospital was a logistical challenge but a team of vendors and employees completed the task.

Old hospital beds were picked up by ReLink. The lesson learned for future installations will require rhe manufacturer to pick up the old beds due to the low resale value.


Existing imaging equipment was traded in for new after PHI (Personal Health Information) was removed.
